Dominic Wines Australia

Passionately dedicated to create a diverse range of quality South Australian red and white wines, full of fruit and flavour, at affordable prices and right here in the Riverland wine region responsible for 30 per cent of Australia’s total wine production.

Each of their wines, produced and stored in state-of-the-art facilities, has a unique story to tell. There’s the soil, weather and geology that contribute towards signature varietal and regional characteristics; along with technological innovations and advances that allow Dominic Wines to create a consistently high-quality product to satisfy the palates of a dynamic and discerning local and international consumer.

History

The Dominic family’s four brothers fled war-torn Croatia after the German invasion and eventually arrived in Australia.

Drawn to the familiar landscapes of South Australia’s Riverland, Dragutin, Joseph, and Michael settled there. Through decades of hard work, Dragutin purchased neglected land and a small red tractor, planting Shiraz, Gordo, and Mourvèdre. He became an early supplier to G. Gramp & Son (now Orlando Wines).

More land soon followed. New varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet were added, and modern irrigation and scientific viticulture transformed the vineyards.

In 1992, his son Brian took over the family enterprise. A chance meeting with a Swedish importer at the 2004 London Wine Fair led to the launch of Dominic Wines. Their flagship Hidden Rock Petit Verdot Cabernet Sauvignon quickly became one of Scandinavia’s top-selling Australian labels.

The Riverland
Straddling the life-giving Murray River, South Australia’s Riverland enjoys a Mediterranean climate and is Australia’s largest wine region, producing nearly one-third of the nation’s crush. Dominic Wines owns 550 hectares here, including Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, Langhorne Creek, and Adelaide Hills, crushing 12,000 tonnes annually to yield 8.5 million litres of premium wine.

This multi-region selection defines the depth and excellence of the Dominic Wines South Australian portfolio.
